Welcome to this week's installment of Random Friday Facts. I'm not sure how far I'll get, because I'm honestly only thinking about leaving for vacation right now.
1. It is 1:42 pm and I'm not sure I've started working yet.
2. My legs are questioning the value of the tempo run I did last night. Loudly.
3. I dry all my running clothes in the dryer, but none of my bras or nice tops.
4. Lays Dill Pickle chips are the best naughty snack ever.
5. I'm actually looking forward to tackling the Custis trail tomorrow for my long run.
6. We're have a 3 hour office cleaning this afternoon and I still don't think that is enough time to unearth my desk.
7. I hate filing paperwork. Both the stack at my house and the stack on my desk are about a foot high.
8. I haven't had a land line telephone in at least 8 years. Just my cell.
9. I'm going to Disney World tomorrow :)
10. My sister and I used to hate each other but now we really like each other. Time is funny like that.
11. I agree with Katie about using DailyMile.
12. I exclaim to myself a lot at my desk. And it is usually profane. I share an office space with 6 other people. Oops.
13. I signed up for a trail 1/2 without every running a trail before. And met someone last night telling me the course is the hardest one she's done. Dammit.
14. I cross the days off my calendar at work with a bright red Sharpie even though I'm not counting down to anything.
15. I save all the spare buttons that come with new clothes, but haven't the slightest clue how to sew one on.
16. There are always at least 4 different pairs of shoes under my desk at work.
17. I get the least amount of work done on Friday afternoons because it is so close to the weekend. Unless I'm in a panic about meeting my manager to see how many priorities I've gotten done for the week.
18. I love being in a band but I hate having people I know hear me sing.
19. I'm going to FL tomorrow. And I CAN'T WAIT!

3TT
1. "Do the same things you have always done and get the same things you have always gotten." With that in mind, I will be joining a workout tonight with CAR, something totally out of my comfort zone, in hopes of giving my running the shot in the arm it so desperately needs. Never mind the voices reminding me how slow I am and how I'll end up running the whole work out alone and I'll embarrass myself in front of runners that I look up to in the blogosphere. I need to let that go, as best I can. It isn't helping anyone. Up, and over.
2. Laundry. Right now, it is like being in college again. Since I now need quarters to do laundry, which I never have, it piles up. A lot. Once I finally do get quarters, I can only do about 3 loads before I'm out again. Leaving 5 more loads judging me on the floor. I don't actually mind the process of doing laundry, on the contrary I actually enjoy it. While things wash or dry I block out that time to be productive somewhere else, like going for a short run or washing the endless pile of dirty dishes in the kitchen, so laundry real is a double whammy in terms of getting things done. The new problem with laundry is the putting away of the clean clothes. By the time things are folded and ready, it is usually bedtime. So I put the clean folded laundry on the floor next to the angry unwashed piles. I swear during the night they intentionally intermingle. And then there's so many clothes on my floor that I can't get to the closet or dresser to put them away so...GAH. Laundry. I'm just sayin.
3. I love going to concerts and shows. I hate buying tickets. It isn't even just TicketBastard anymore, all these indie ticket companies are charging seven different kinds of fees on top of the ticket price. A $25 show is suddenly $34. What the hell? It really discourages me from going out and checking out new bands, or even going to bands I know and love. I'm not made of money, yo. And I know those fees don't go towards the artist I'm trying to see, or even the venue I'm seeing the show at. Service fee, processing fee, box office fee, your mom fee, etc. I've had it!
Do you have a household chore that you either avoid like the plague or just cannot seem to keep up with? Are you sad that I am going to see Mickey Mouse without you? Tell me one thing you'd want me to do/see/go at Disney on your behalf and I'll take a picture of myself doing it, just for you. Except the Small World Ride. I don't love you all that much.

Wordless Wednesday
What I think about running with the CAR mafia tomorrow night:
FEAR. And a sense of impending shame. Bad slow runner, bad!

Triple Tangent Tuesday
1. I hit up the running store on my way home last night and got a nice little bag of goodies. Mostly gels, but a few new flavors/kinds to try including Gu Roctane. I also picked up some Nuun to try as well since it seems to be all the rage these days. Lastly, a pair of Balega socks. I cringe at spending $10 for one pair of socks but I've been told it will be worth it. Look for reviews of all these goodies after I give them a spin during my long run Saturday.
2. I leave for Florida on Saturday afternoon and I'm so excited! Say what you will about Disney World but I love it. I think I love it more now as an adult. There are more rides you can check out, amazing restaurants to eat at, etc. I just made an appointment at a spa at the Swan and Dolphin hotel for a mani-pedi, something else you don't enjoy as a kid. I'm meeting my whole family down there, and some close family friends as well. I'll only be there through Tuesday but I'll get 3 full days there and it might be just the break I need. The hotel we are staying at has a 1.4 mile jogging rail around it and I'll be bringing my gear to make use of it at least once. I think I'm so manic about the trip right now because the travel agent overnighted my paperwork to me and it just came to my office. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
3. I'm planning on running home from work tonight for the first time in a long time. I need to make my weekly runs longer and since getting up early fails every time, my only option is to do this. It looks to be about 6.5 miles from the office to where I parked my car this morning. I really want to make this a weekly thing but I need the weather to cooperate. It is supposed to be 93 and I am not amused. The route is not shady at all so I'll just have to deal. I have everything I need to get home: camelbak, body glide, a gel, a Garmin, and my keys. Am I forgetting anything?
What is on your mind today? Any good workouts planned? Exciting weekend plans yet?

Weekend Recap/Motivation Monday
I was pretty MIA last week, my apologies. As the week went on I just got more and more bogged down with work, school, and training. My class is officially over! I took the final exam on Thursday night and turned in my final project last night. I wish I had taken pictures of the studying process on Wednesday night/Thursday morning because it was pretty entertaining. Four girls, 2 appetizer sampler platters, and bottomless IHOP coffee until 1 am, then back to my place for more studying until 3:30 am. Up at 6:30 for work, yikes! Thanks to the continued use of stimulants (prescribed and not abused, I swear) I was able to get through most of work and then head over to campus for one more hour of studying before the test. Once the evil hard tricky no good test was over, we all headed out for drinks nearby. My reward was delicious craft beer and house-cut french fries tossed in ranch dressing. Yup, I went there. Between the lack of sleep and the alcohol I started to crash pretty quickly, so I asked Joe to pick me up and take me back to his place. I don't even remember if I showered before I passed out. Probably not. The next morning was NOT pretty, even though I got 8 hours of sleep. I was working from home in the morning, thank goodness, and then headed out to Herndon for an afternoon band practice and 6:30 pm gig.
I made the mistake of not having any coffee and the result was not pretty. By the time the gig rolled around I was face-down in the heat, propped up on a cooler we'd brought with us. I rallied enough for the one set we had to play before the main act came on and then beat a path home. By the time the gig was over and everything was broken down I had a massive headache (caffeine withdrawal). I was home by 9 and in bed by 9:30, hoping against hope that I didn't sleep through my 5:00 am alarm. The headache woke me up again at 3:00 am so I stumbled to the bathroom, chowed some Excedrin and went back to bed. Two hours later the alarm went off and the headache was gone. PHEW! Time for 12 miles of humid awesomeness. It wasn't pretty but we got it done. I stopped at the grocery store on the way home, stunk up the whole joint, and restocked on some runners pantry items. And maybe that cake from the earlier post...anyways. Back home I ate breakfast and went back to bed. I didn't have plans until much later in the evening, so there was no problem when I woke up at 4 pm. It was awesome. After a long overdue shower I headed to Joe's for the night. I consumed an excessive amount of sushi and veggie tempura, then crashed on the couch and watched The Fourth Kind. Out cold in bed by 11:30. WIN.
Sunday was actually productive, since my research project was due the following day. After a delish breakfast of French toast I headed back home and got down to business. Six hours l later I was done! I walked the hard copy over to a classmate's house since she graciously agreed to pass it in for me tonight (I'll be stuck at work when the deadline passes), emailed a soft copy to my professor, and busted out the wine. Honestly, it felt a bit anticlimatic. I was done, but I still needed to wait for my grades. There was no one around to celebrate with. It was too damn hot to do anything but sit like a lump on the couch and watch reruns of Big Bang Theory. Despite eating an entire frozen pizza, cake, and 2 glasses of wine, I was still wide awake come midnight. I was not happy. I reluctantly popped a sleep aid around 12:30 and finally passed out. The alarm came pretty fast this morning and I could still feel the sleep aid in my system. It was a very drowsy morning until I got a giant coffee at work. So far the day has been spent prioritizing all the tasks that had fallen to the side while I was swamped with class. My desk is a disaster of epic proportions. I am a little sad that I won't be leaving work early today for class. I really enjoyed the little group we had. If this rain doesn't let up I'll be hitting the gym after work tonight. Now that my schedule is back to normal I can focus more time and energy on my training. 15 miles last week? Not nearly good enough.
Which brings us to Motivation Monday! Tell me in the comments how you get your butt out the door on a Monday. After a weekend of racing or training it can be one of the hardest days to get going. I thought the threat of wearing a bathing suit in 6 days (Florida here I come!) would do it but not so much. I tried one on last night and then cried. So no chance of instant results this week but that doesn't mean I can't start putting in the work for future bathing suit humiliations. Remember when I mentioned having a happy weight? Yeah, not even close. It probably has nothing to do with me buying entire cakes for myself. Anyhoo, I'm ready to get my chub in motion, so pump me up!!!! Plans this weekend include tackling the mess of my apartment, running more, and packing for Florida. I hope time flies until Saturday. Off to catch up on my blogs!

Sleepless Sunday
Despite being awash in the relief of finishing my final research project for class and basking in the AC in my apartment, I find myself wide awake. I'd say that I've got a few things on my mind but that would be an understatement. Enjoy a few random pics from my day.
The cake I bought myself post-run on Saturday morning. It is really much smaller in real life. Sometimes you just need cake. Don't ask how much is left. Just...don't.
My beloved chaise lounge, covered in the ingredients of my epic paper. Can't wait to unearth it and reclaim it for myself.
Me celebrating the final product with a glass of wine. Twenty-odd pages later, I'm done. :)
Hope you had a good weekend, filled with great runs and races. Looking forward to reading all your recaps tomorrow. Or tonight if this sleeplessness hangs on.

Mile Markers
"I wish women could be more like this in other areas of life. I wish we could always support each other without comparing. I wish we could always allow others to be sad without trying to fix it. I wish we could always be happy for someone else without seeing the holes in our own lives. I wish we could always share in another's gratitude for good fortune instead of poisoning it with our own regret. I wish we could always laugh together without our mirth coming at the expense of someone else. I wish we could always lift each other up without having to be on top. I wish we could always applaud others' gifts without pining. I wish we could always freely celebrate our own gifts without feeling the need to play small."
